May and Roses in bloom

There are many wondrous little cottages near where I live with wild roses clambering through hedgerows and over stone walls with mossy softened edges. Remains of once meticulously tended gardens. The older the rose, the more perfumed. One lady I know lovingly tends a present day secret garden and teaches me all about these pre 1900 roses. When I visit she gives me fresh cut posies to study I can’t wait for May, when they are all in full bloom and I plan to paint many more! I am a lucky girl and I love living in Donegal 🙂
