Blackthorn on the little road home

I drive past this bend on the back road home all the time but it was only when I walked it one day that I noticed this lovely line of trees. Today I stood and sketched them to try and capture their energy from life, to then finish in the studio. Amazing to me how much our perception of landscape and composition change with the  seasonal blooms. The two blackthorn trees in full, soft, white bloom winding toward each other stood out delicate and luminous against the late afternoon shadows. Structural detail is complete and now for light and colour!
